Two years in the making. For T W O entire years Glossier has been developing the sunscreen that beats all other sunscreens, and it goes by the name Invisible Shield. I’ve been using it for almost one week, and I can earnestly say there is no comparison. It’s just downright gewwwwd.
You should know, first of all, that I am adamant about sun protection. Just ask my friends — they all hated me on spring break because I couldn’t shut up about the g-dang SPF. But skin cancer is real, folks!! And it turns out that there’s a lot more in the air to worry about than just harmful sun rays. There’s pollution (ew), free radicals (they cause aging and wrinkles — nobody wants that), plus UVA and UVB ray (double whammy). What I’m trying to get at is that every single day you need to protect your skin from all these things. Every. Single. Day. Here’s how…
If you don’t want to get Invisible Shield, then get yo-self anything with an SPF of at least 15. Invisible Shield is v nice because it comes out clear (much like a serum), it’s not sticky after application, and doesn’t feel the slightest bit greasy (like most sunscreens). And it goes on right after moisturizer and before makeup. Daily skin preservation = check!
If you DO want Invisible Shield — 100 percent out of 10 would recommend every time — it’s $34 from “Glossier is the bomb dot com.” (Life hack slash pro tip: go through this here Rep link for 20 percent off your first purchase). (Bonus life tip: use a different email address for 20 percent off round two). Although it’s not meant for long days at the beach or sweat-inducing exercise. You should probably apply a thick, white sunscreen for those non-daily activities.
But remember! No matter what sunscreen you’re using, you have to be using at least one all day every day! I’m not trying to be your mother, it’s science. Google it. There’s no such thing as a safe “base” tan to keep you from future sunburn. A tan — ANY tan — is sun damage on your skin. In fact, more people develop skin cancer from tanning than get lung cancer because of smoking. Forget about all the potential skin cancer treatments you might have to go through because of your weekly brief encounters with a tanning bed, those cancer machines will also turn your skin into something that resembles an old, wrinkled orange-tinted shirt. Cute, no?
Glossier is making it so easy for you to invest in some skinsurance. Really it’s just Geico for your face. Your skin will thank you. (Except it won’t because that’s impossible, but you know what I mean).
